Grief and Loss: Continuing to Cope with a Pandemic
Coping with a loss is challenging without any additional stressors and now we have to factor in the pandemic. We will discuss the different types of losses and prolonged grief one may experience during COVID-19. The stages of the grief process, why grief and loss during a pandemic can look and show up very differently. Come fill up your toolbox with a variety of coping tools and know you are not alone!
Presenter: Liza Piekarsky, LMHC, CAP, NCC (Retreat Behavioral Health)
Liza is the regional director of marketing at Retreat Behavioral Health, a leading provider of mental health and substance use care that operates a network of residential and outpatient facilities along the East Coast. Liza is also a licensed clinician with strong specialties in counseling for adolescents, young adults and their families, and people suffering from substance use disorders. She began her career in South Florida working with adolescents in the juvenile justice system and has since held a variety of clinical leadership roles both in residential care and private practice outpatient therapy. In addition to her role at Retreat, Liza provides individual psychotherapy and counseling to patients through her organization Therapy with Liza, which is part of the Caring Therapists of Broward network. Liza holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
